Where to stay?
We recommend staying in the city center, around the Capitole area, which is where we will meet on Thursday and arrange transportation to and from the château. The subway system is otherwise fairly easy to use with only two lines. You can book anywhere you want but here are our top 2 recommendations
Plaza Hôtel Capitole
Located right in the heart of Toulouse, facing le Capitole, its greatest square, you will be within walking distance of most of Toulouse’s activities, including the Thursday’s festivities!
They have a restaurant, bar and gym on-site
Book with them directly here or through third-party websites (Booking, Expedia, etc).
Hôtel le Grand Balcon
Only a block from Le Plaza Hotel, le Grand Balcon offers luxurious accommodation, in the very center of Toulouse.
They also serve breakfast at their restaurant/bar.
Book with them here or on your favorite third-party website.
What to do?
Stroll along la Daurade
There is nothing more French than a river hangout in the summer time.
So grab a baguette, some camembert, a bottle of Rosé, then find a sunny spot on the water for a sunset picnic. (Ps. Drinking alcohol in public is technically not legal, but it is tolerated. Everyone does it. However, if you see cops, just don’t be flaunting your wine in their face)
Shop at Rue d’Alsace Lorraine
Toulouse’s version of the Champs d’Elysée, this strip mall-style street will provide all your favorite French and American brands alike, from Les Galeries Lafayette to L’Occitane en Provence while including Zara and The Kooks.
For the adventurers looking to discover more local small-sized shops, there is nothing better than letting yourself get lost through streets of the pink city.
For the nerds, visit the city of Space (“La cité de l’Espace”)
We loved going as kids! But don’t be mistaken, no one loved this place more than my dad! Kids and adults alike, get a glimpse at the inside of an actual rocket ship, find out more about zero gravity, and enjoy interactive, educational fun!
You can get there by car/Uber, bus (L1) from the city center.
And more….
